THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT  — An instructor for 32 years at St. Francis Prep in New York City, Mark Krolikowski, was also later fired from the school. The Catholic school’s attorney stated that “[h]is employment was terminated for appropriate non-discriminatory reasons.” The attorney reportedly stated the reason was not due to gender identity.

The news report I looked at was rather vague — likely the school wasn’t talking, nor was I able to find additional information elsewhere, however Krolikowski is planning to sue the school and the attorney for Krolikowski, Andrew Kimler, says his client is protected under city and state discrimination laws.

A parental complaint lead to a meeting between Krolikowski and his boss, during which Krolikowski revealed the beginning of her transition to a woman. She was then told by the principal, Brother Leonard Conway, that it was “worse than [being] gay” and ordered to stay away from public events as a woman.

I hope more information becomes available on this soon.

Since she is currently presenting in both female and male attire and accessories, I’m using female pronouns.

New Hampshire transgender third grader to pee in peace

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — It’s settled. The battle between the parents of a transgender third grader and the Nashua, NH school district over the child’s clothes and restroom use at school has ended with an agreement between the two parties. Reportedly, the agreement allows the child to dress as she chooses and she can use the girl’s restroom.

Neither party has yet to comment on the specifics of the agreement.

Janson Wu, the family’s attorney: “I think that as the environments become more and more welcoming to transgender and gender variant youth, we’re going to see a lot more students coming out. And that’s something that schools and parents will need to be prepared to deal with.  Children often have difficulty having schools respect them for who they believe they are.”

Nashua School Superintendent Mark Conrad: “We don’t have a specific policy on transgender students, but we do have policies in place that prevent discrimination against students and bullying, and we regularly review those policies.”

While this is a good outcome for the child, I do wonder if future trans students of this school district have to make an “agreement” before they can dress or use the restroom of the gender they present in? Never mind the cost for attorneys, but I don’t feel the school should have a default policy to make case-by-case decisions.  I believe a clear trans policy is in order. Supt. Conrad, how about it?

[UPDATED] Mischa Popoff says: “Transgendered kids a bunch of baloney.”

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — [UPDATED May 9, 2012 -- over 140 comments in this thread.] – Who is Mischa Popoff? An ignorant writer hardly worth mentioning except for the fact that he puts the lives of trans kids at risk with anti-trans rhetoric.

Popoff is opposed to introducing education of trans issues into the British Columbia and Ontario (Canada) school systems. While he has a right to voice his opinions, he is basing his position on his own personal experience with trans people.

Popoff: I know transgendered people; they can attest this is a huge mistake. . . .

They ["transgenderists" -- his word] freely admit most kids they’ve encouraged to live as members of the opposite sex for as long as a decade actually wind up abandoning the whole idea of gender re-assignment (sex change) once they enter their teens.

Remember, “they,” of course, are just the trans people Popoff “knows.” Most of us likely don’t agree with them. Just because some trans people choose not have sex reassignment surgery, doesn’t mean they’re no longer trans — many trans people don’t proceed for financial, religious, family  or other personal reasons — he’s twisting facts — and I highly doubt they’re correct in the first place.  Strike one.

Popoff: “Transgenderism is impossible to provide counselling for, unless the counsellor is a proponent thereof. As such, you can rest assured it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy, the costs of which will be borne by the rest of society.”

So Popoff is saying trans kids can’t get bias-free neutral counselling — someone able to provide the pros and cons of all options available to them. Baloney. Strike two.

Popoff: “And we know this because of the dirty little secret that no one in the transgenderist community ever talks about – people who’ve gone all the way through with gender-reassignment surgery only to realize after it’s too late that they and everyone who supported them on their journey to “self-discovery” were dead wrong.”

Strike Three.

What is most harmful here is the number of needless suicides that are occurring to trans youths because ignorant writers like Popoff standing in the way of providing the help and guidance they need.

ACLU steps up to plate in GA transgender elementary school saga

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — ACLU to school board: “Gender identity is not a matter of choice, but rather a person’s natural sense of being male or female, which is usually firmly established by the age of four . . . ”

In the same letter: “Restroom access based on gender identity is essential for transgender students. Forcing a transgender student to use a restroom inconsistent with his or her gender identity perpetuates gender stereotypes and fosters a hostile learning environment that is detrimental to a child’s best interests.”

Transgender student bathroom saga continues in Georgia. School dist. supt. says NO!

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Supt. tells newspaper: “All the information I have shows that the child is a little girl. . . . My position remains the same, the child should use the girls’ restroom.” Supt. William “Al” Hunter made this remark Friday after a teacher earlier in the week denied a 7-year-old known trans child permission to use a boys room at Todd Grant Elementary school in McIntosh County, Georgia.

The school board is expected to take up the matter shortly, perhaps overruling the decision. They could, however, take no action on the matter.
