UFC quickly suspends transphobic fighter

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Following a rant that included calling trans athlete Fallon Fox “a lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak,”  heavyweight fighter Matt Mitrione was quickly suspended by the UFC.

Mitrione: “Because she’s [Fallon] not a he. He’s a he,” he said. “He’s chromosomally a man. He had a gender change, not a sex change. He’s still a man. He was a man for 31 years. Thirty-one years. That’s a couple years younger than I am. He’s a man. Six years of taking performance de-hancing drugs, you think is going to change all that? That’s ridiculous. . . .That is a lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak, and I mean that. Because you lied on your license to beat up women. That’s disgusting. . . .”

Response from the UFC following Mitrione’s suspension: “The UFC was appalled by the transphobic comments made by heavyweight Matt Mitrione today in an interview on ‘The MMA Hour.’ The organization finds Mr. Mitrione’s comments offensive and wholly unacceptable and – as a direct result of this significant breach of the UFC’s code of conduct – Mr. Mitrione’s UFC contract has been suspended and the incident is being investigated. The UFC is a friend and ally of the LGBT community, and expects and requires all 450 of its athletes to treat others with dignity and respect.”

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Angela McCaskill, you’ve fouled out of the diversity game. Please leave the court, pronto.

McCaskill slapped transgender people in the face when she took the time to thank Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council for his support during a press conference on the subject of her suspension as Chief Diversity Officer of Gallaudet University.

It has become apparent that Ms. McCaskill is a woefully inept diversity officer. Never mind the gay marriage petition ruckus which brought us here, but to give “thanks” to a top-tier foe of transgender and LGBT people clearly indicates she simply doesn’t have a grasp of what it takes to be a chief diversity officer. Here is a man (Perkins) who would like to wipe transgender people off the planet — no diversity officer in their right mind would ever make this kind of reference to someone whose entire life’s purpose is to erase diversity.

Did I mention McCaskill wants her job back and wants compensation for “emotional toil”?

The president of Gallaudet University needs to kick her off the team and bring in someone who knows what diversity means.

Oklahoma judge cites DNA as reason to deny trans people legal gender ID change

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — If Oklahoma District Judge Bill Graves is also a scientist specializing in the study of DNA, he should submit his research to a peer-reviewed medical journal for scrutiny utilizing the scientific method first. Practicing this sort of medicine on the bench amounts to quackery, not to mention, judicial malpractice.

So far, Judge Graves has denied name changes to two trans persons, arguing that DNA does not change with HRT (hormone replacement therapy) or SRS (sex reassignment surgery) therefore a person’s sex cannot change. Although other Oklahoma County judges routinely grant trans people name changes, Graves insists trans people who request name changes are doing it for fraudulent purposes.

Graves, a former legislator, partly based his decision on comments by a Republican state legislator, also a physician, who has a “scientific opinion” on DNA — no research was reportedly cited. [I fixed the sentence so it is more clear -- Graves is not a doctor, but his legislator friend is.]

Graves: “A so-called sex-change surgery can make one appear to be the opposite sex, but in fact they are nothing more than an imitation of the opposite sex . . . To grant a name change in this case would be to assist that which is fraudulent. “It is notable that Genesis 1:27-28 states: ‘So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth …’ The DNA code shows God meant for them to stay male and female.”

From The Oklahoman:

“The judge in his 2011 order gave three specific reasons against allowing name changes in transgender cases.

He wrote it could result in someone unwittingly marrying a person “who appeared to be of the opposite sex but was actually of the same sex.”

He wrote it also could hinder crime investigations — causing police officers searching for a male based on DNA evidence to ignore a potential suspect the officers believed was female.

He wrote it also could let someone circumvent the state’s prohibitions against same-sex marriage.”

I believe the judge has pretty much made it clear in his own words that he isn’t much of a judge. Or a doctor.

At least one trans person has appealed the decision. My hunch is that the appeals court will grant her name change request.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — I witnessed a man, with a broken right arm, operating an adult-sized ATV, using his left hand to operate the throttle (located on the right side) carrying 3 kids, likely all under 6 years old.

This occurred on August 23, 2012, 3 miles south of Winchester Bay, at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (Umpqua area) on the Oregon coast. The vehicles in this party include two Ford pickups, Oregon license plates numbers 289 FTE and personalized plate that reads: “ZFUNT.”

Oregon state law says that no child under 16 is to ride an ATV without a helmet, a state-issued hands-on training certificate and no child under 7 may ride an ATV, period.

Oregon adopted these aggressive rules to curtail the runaway ATV-related death and injuries rate of children and adults — particularly kids under 16. Most Oregonians are now required to take an exam and carry a certification before riding an ATV in a public area. Clearly this man did not take the exam or is flaunting the law because the rules clearly and repeatedly pointed out the extreme danger for kids at ATV staging areas and camping grounds — the very place this person was riding around recklessly with these kids.

I cringed when I saw this, but was quick enough to take photos, albeit from a distance. I’m still disturbed by this a day later – never mind the obvious danger of the operator losing control throwing the kids onto the pavement — in my mind, I picture the girl slipping forward, foot caught in the ATV tire then yanked down and bashing her head on the footpeg – potentially another stupid and needless ATV death. Do we need to report these people?

Your thoughts? If you’re a law enforcement officer or a social worker for children, I’d especially like to hear from you and know your thoughts on the matter.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Somehow I don’t think telling 8,500 people at the Iowa State Fair one heck of a whopper using an incendiary topic of like Muslim is entertainment. Maybe at a Rush Limbaugh rally. But at a state fair?

Williams: “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the US and we hate him!”

Even Sen. John McCain was civilized enough to grab the microphone away from one of his bigoted supporter at a rally and set the record straight on Obama back in 2008. ‘Obama is a fine family man and not a Muslim,’ McCain said along these lines, leaving no doubt in the minds of those in attendance.

Last year after Williams criticized Obama on a television news program, ESPN dropped their usage of his music for the theme of “Monday Night Football” after 22 years. That’s a steady chunk of change to lose.

Hank Williams Jr. may have all the money he ever needs, but this disgraceful tarnishing of country music family legend has been pretty ugly to watch. Folks, we’re now looking at the bottom of a barrel.

Is paying to find out if trans sex worker gave NBA star HIV an exploitation of trans people?

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — You bet! Transgender people have been exploited to financial benefit of others for years and it’s high time we make it distasteful. Gawker.com ought to be shameful for putting out a bounty to pay for tips leading to the identity of the trans sex worker that supposedly gave Magic Johnson HIV.

This bounty followed a PBS airing of a Frontline documentary titled “AIDS in Black America” which included a part by Johnson saying he got HIV ‘sleeping with a lot of women.’ To this point, there is no evidence that indicates Johnson’s statement is false.

AJ Daulerio of Gawker.com, however, believes Johnson’s HIV came from a sex worker, but at the time the source came forward, Daulerio didn’t have the cash to pay the source. He has the money now and has apparently put out an ‘APB’ for the source to come forward.

The LGBT community fired back swiftly — Zach Sire, editor of the Sword website called Daulerio ‘dumb and sleazy’.

The Gawker.com webpage headline ran something like this:  ‘PBS doc still doesn’t reveal who gave Magic Johnson AIDS.’ I’d say the headline clearly separates the news reporters from the news EXPLOITERS.

Shame on you Mr. Daulerio.

Trans & LGB people slam hatemongering page on social media site

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — “Boycott Fashion Bug – Keep GAYS from shopping at our stores!” says a newly created Facebook page calling for people to boycott Fashion Bug because a ‘man was trying on dresses’ there.

This kind of hatemongering on social media is nothing new and normally I don’t waste my time on these things as eventually Facebook deletes such pages after enough complaints. But I wanted to take a moment to thank all the transgender & LGB people and allies who respond to these hatemongering pages and sites. Clearly the creator of this site is getting a dose of reality, so my hats off to all of you that keep the hate in check!

Here’s a bite if you’re curious:

“[Page] Description: It’s bad enough gays try to ruin everything we have as Americans and now they are popping up in our womens stores using the dressing rooms and prancing around in front of everyone!”

. . .

“My family and I went shopping at a Fashion Bug in Missouri and as we are walking aroung looking for things for my wife I turn my head and see this man come out of a dressing room dressed as a women. He was trying on DRESSES!! And there was a small crowd of about 3 or 4 people over there watching him and taking pictures of him. That is the last thing my child needs to see, is some FREAK wanting to be a women being able to use a womens dressing room in a womens store to fill his FREAKY needs at home! We need to stand up against this as Americans and stop buying from a compant that allows this kind of behavior to be ok in front of familes! Pass this page to all of your friends and get the word out!”

That was apparently the first initial post when he created the page. Five days later he posts this after being overwhelmed with unexpected responses from the trans and LGB community:

“It is unreal how many of you stick up for this sick person and people like him! They are not female and should not be acting like it. It is bad enough they go around and flaunt how gay they are in public. Straight people do not have a Gay Pride parade and celebration going out in public showing off their sickness. All of you supporters are going to be right in hell next to these sick people for supporting what GOD hates.”

Mississippi state Rep. Andy Gipson, who is reportedly a minister at an undisclosed Baptist church, made a post on Facebook last week invoking a passage from the Bible that requires the death of LGBT people. In the ensuing uproar that followed, Gipson refused to apologize, saying he has overwhelming support.

I bring these things to your attention as a reminder that there are those in our society who see no problem with the demise of transgender people – death! To keep them at bay, we must continue to elect to public office those that will vote FOR our well-being, even if one disagrees with them on other matters. Our lives and civil rights come first, does it not?

If anyone of you reading this is still watching Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor, right now would be a good time to quit, especially if you watch online. Ratings are easily measured online, so let’s not contribute to keeping him on the air.

From Media Matters: “Throughout the [O'Reilly Factor] segment, O’Reilly and [Gretchen] Carlson criticized Glee for encouraging “dopey kids” to experiment with homosexuality and possibly identify as transgender, comparing LGBT youth to smokers and “drug-fueled” celebrities.”

“Dopey kids”, huh? C’mon Bill, have a political debate with Al Franken or something . . . anything besides exploiting trans kids. Didn’t you learn anything last year when your fear mongering about Chas Bono backfired and a boatload of professionals put you in your place over the lack of evidence supporting your claims? No, I guess not.

Okay . . . maybe going a bit airborne here?

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — My guess here is that this homemade tail attachment is an attempt to squeeze a few more miles per gallon out of the car — hypermileage is what they call it.

The vehicle is a Geo Metro and the year looks right for it to have a 3-cylinder engine. These cars weigh next to nothing and they always get over 40 MPG and 50 MPG is achievable.

The tail appears to be constructed out of sheet metal — perhaps aluminum with a wood frame and a clear plexiglass top (I suppose to see out of the back with). There appears to be foam insulation.

Did the car achieve hypermileage? Good question. In it’s current configuration, I vote no. The plexiglass is cracked and straps of lumber is holding it in place. Also the surface area where the tail is attached to the car isn’t “clean” (smooth) — this is vital to achieving hypermileage.

However, the laws of physics indicates this is a very unsafe car. The level principle likely makes it possible to push down on the tail and lift the front tires off the ground with this design. The huge sail area on such a light car will make it easy for the car to get blown off the road by wind, oncoming traffic or passing traffic. Likewise, the large sail area will make it hard to change direction at speed. And finally, there’s the issue of lift — the thing has a shape of a wing — go fast enough, the thing may get airborne — the rear wheels anyway.

I didn’t get to talk to the driver, but he was leaving Fry’s (a computer and other electronic gear retailer) — I’m hoping he bought some design software and is headed back to the drawing board!

Supt. of NJ school district cancels “Day of Silence” for dubious reasons

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — National Day of Silence is a widespread and regular student-led observance involving 8,000 plus schools and colleges promoting awareness for safer schools for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. What educator wouldn’t want to be part of a nation-wide awareness of this type?

Apparently, there is one. Superintendent Elizabeth Nastus cancelled Delaware Valley High School’s (Frenchtown, NJ) planned Day of Silence saying she intends to have a different diversity day, involving more kids and more messages.

I’m calling bunk here. Day of Silence already involves everyone — students, educators, families and friends — participation by all is welcome and encouraged. There’s something else going on here and I’m not buying Nastus’ excuses.

Family members of a transgender child at the school believes that parents were complaining about the upcoming Day of Silence, believing it can lead to a “gay lifestyle”.  I most certainly hope the cancellation wasn’t to appease the ignorant.

Regardless of the real reason(s) for the cancellation, the excuses given aren’t good enough. The cancellation says more about Supt. Nastus than anything else.

Canada tries again with trans rights bill, Arizona goes off deep end

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Perhaps prompted by the Jenna Talackona-Miss Universe saga, Canada’s Parliament sped up a trans rights bill that was introduced last year with a second reading last week. The bill will add trans people to the Canadian Human Rights Act and make violence against them a hate crime. This is Canada’s fourth attempt at enacting a trans civil rights law.

The Arizona legislature this week sent three dubious bills to Gov. Jan Brewer to sign, one of which says that pregnancies begin 2 weeks before conception (date of a woman’s last period). Not only this makes a mockery of a woman’s biology, it is also a legal Pandora’s Box that will make a beeline to the U.S. Supreme Court. Another bill requires that schools teach kids that for unwanted pregnancy, adoption and birth is the most acceptable outcome. A third bill prevents doctors from being sued if they don’t tell parents something about the fetus that might cause them to terminate the pregnancy.

I won’t begin to get into this shameless runaround of a woman’s right to make choices. But I will once again stress that it is the President of the United States who appoints justices to the U.S. Supreme Court – the final arbitrator of nutty laws like these. Please vote accordingly.

Rush – waiting for the other shoe to drop!

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Week 3: Only two sponsors and no other ad revenue in sight. Rush’s syndicator  Premier is burning through a million dollars week airing mostly public service announcements, all the while paying Rush $750,000 each week. Premiere yanked all their national advertising slots because they couldn’t even trust local radio station to do it themselves. Sponsors were requesting “Rush-free grids” ensure their ads didn’t run during his show.

Clear Channel, owner of most of the stations carrying Rush is staggering under a massive debt load, recently filed to restructure their debt. They’re expecting a $200 million loss this year. Reports say they’re losing about a million for each week the ads don’t run.

In addition, there’s pressure from Cumulus Media Networks, the owner of Limbaugh’s largest stations in New York, Chicago, and in Washington, D.C. — Cumulus plans to syndicate Mike Huckabee’s new talk show this April head-to-head with Rush. Without revenue from Rush, Cumulus could simply just drop Rush from their prestige stations and run Huckabee, sparing them revenue and logistics headaches! Rush’s ratings is reportedly down 37% from 2010 on Cumulus’ New York station.

That is almost a no brainer decision since Cumulus would not ever have to worry about Huckabee calling anyone a “slut.” Oh, and the two sponsors supporting Rush? LifeLock — a company caught defrauding customers and a cemetary in New Jersey.

Obama blocks Texas’ attempt to hinder Democrats access to the ballot box

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT  — That is all this so-called “voter fraud prevention” law does and the Justice Department agreed. The new Texas law to require photo ID at the polls was blocked by the Obama Administration stating it would disenfranchise Hispanic, poor and disabled voters — all people who tend to vote Democratic. They also cited little evidence of voter fraud justifying the new law.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 allows the federal government to intervene when states attempt to restrict access to the ballot box.

ACLU’s Katie O’Connor “Texas’ voter ID law would prevent countless Latinos, African-Americans, elderly citizens and others from casting their ballot. We’re pleased the Department of Justice has recognized the harms this discriminatory law would have on people’s fundamental right to vote.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry: “yet another example of the Obama administration’s continuing and pervasive federal overreach.”

A number of states have enacted laws to restrict mostly Democrat access to the ballot box under the disguise of  “voter fraud prevention”.  Obama has already reversed a similar law in South Carolina.

Let’s be clear about this folks — there is no problem with voter fraud, laws like these are just attempt to dissuade Democrats from voting. Besides, the last high-profile voter-fraud case was a Republican Secretary of State – Charlie White. The law enacted in Texas would have not prevented that kind of voter fraud.

Husker asst. coach’s anti-transgender/LGB comments rebuked by University of Nebraska Chancellor

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT – Ron Brown, a notorious anti-transgender activist and assistant football coach for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was rebuked publicly by Chancellor Harvey Perlman for not making clear he wasn’t speaking for the university when he testified against a Omaha civic effort to protect transgender and LGB people from discrimination.

Perlman: “The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska has made it clear that the university does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. And only the board can speak on university policy and practices.

When asked for his address for the record before giving testimony, Brown gave the address of the Husker football stadium and said ‘the Bible condemns homosexuality as sin.’ This prompted some to ask the Chancellor to step in.

John Carroll, a season ticket holder and Omaha attorney: “With all that young gay kids are facing today, having Coach Brown stand up in a public forum and call them sinners, made me sick to my stomach. If Mr. Brown insists on exercising his First Amendment rights all the while spewing anti-gay rhetoric and threats of eternal damnation, please have him use his own address in the future.”

While Brown said the rebuke wasn’t necessary, I’d say his behavior over the last few years is the kind of PR the Huskers don’t need.
