THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Most recently as policy advocate for the Transgender Law Center providing leadership training for trans people in California, Alexis Rivera advocated for over a decade in the area of health care for trans people and trans equality. Her numerous awards and honors serves as a testament to her accomplishments and inspiration for the rest of us.
Rivera died on March 28, 2012 in San Francisco at age 34 from illnesses related to HIV.
Transgender Law Center’s Masen Davis: “She understood that we are stronger together, and she kept organizing until the very end. Alexis’ death is a reminder that the fight for equality — and against AIDS — is far from over.”
I noticed one news report referred to Rivera as a pioneer in the area of trans rights. I agree with this. She was young, but the era of trans people having the things she fought for is young too. Her place in transgender history is assured of being prominent.

WOW!!!!! ALEXIS AND I WERE SISTER SINCE I WAS 15 AM GONNA BE 31 IN AUG.. I KNOW AL ABOUT HER LIFE, AND SHE KNOW AL ABOUT MINE.. I DID NOT KNOW SHE WAS POZ TILL ABOUT A YR AGO.. I TOLD HER I WAS POZ ALMOST 8 YRS AGO, AND SHE WAS THE LAST PERSON I TOLD I WAS POZ FOR ABOUT 5 YRS.. AND THE TRANS WORLD IF YOUR POZ YOU REALLY GET LOOKED DOWN ON. Alexis, in all of my sixty years I must say that you were one of the most remarkable people that I have ever known. I consider myself most fortunate to have met you. I am not alone in this opinion. You were amazing and accomplished so much in the brief time that you were with us. There are so very many that truly miss you but they shall continue your work. Justice and equality will prevail. You touched so many lifes. You truly made a difference. The world is a better place for your having been here.
