The Seattle Times now saying transgender “child” assault victim is 21 years old.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — While there still is no mention of the victim’s “learning disability” in the latest Times report, the My Ballard neighborhood website has been updated and other than a newer report from the police, most of the original information remains the same, including her learning disability and the lack of the “child’s” age.

The parents didn’t take her to hospital for 4 days because the injuries weren’t apparent, although a hospital spokesperson did say her injuries could have been fatal without medical attention.

I don’t know what to think of this, but it does appear that the Times ought to assign a reporter to the story and get things straight!

[FOLLOW-UP 8-30-11] Trans women shot by off-duty DC cop.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Officer Kenneth Furr remains in jail following his arrest for shooting at 3 trans women sitting in their car.  Witnesses, including on-duty DC police,  say Furr was standing on the hood of their car just before he fired through the windshield at them. Furr is a 20-year member of the force and was charged in 2004 with DUI. This much is known.

There are reports that the DC police handcuffed some of the trans women after the shooting and also that Furr might have been trolling for sex from them. I do not know for sure if this factual, but it is being reported in The Washington Blade here:

American Family Association calls for reinstatement of criminal laws against LGBT people.

No discrimination says this document!

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — “By the time of the founding until the late 20th Century, homosexual activity was a felony offense in the United States of America, there is no reason why it cannot be a criminal offense once again” said a spokesperson for the AFA on their radio program. The Supreme Court says such laws are unconstitutional, but just fact of the matter is these “family” organizations still desire to see anti-trans/LGBT legislation is reason enough for us to ALWAYS elect politicians who will keep these people at bay. I’d hate to see the other side amass enough political power to start talking about a constitutional amendment to legalize hate, or worse. The power is our hands, vote in every election, take your friends to the polls too.

Police asking for your help in finding attacker

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — “I don’t want to see you around the skate bowl anymore” a female attacker said to the trans child, Tiva Anderson,  just before striking her with a bat. The victim was later taken to a hospital and part of her skull was removed.

Tad and Cindy Anderson, Tiva’s parents, say ‘she has learning disabilities that can make it hard to interact with her.’

The incident occurred on Aug. 16th and the Seattle Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the attacker, a white female that likely hangs out around the skate park.  No ages were made available in the reports I found.

State of Alaska appeals federal judge decision to keep protecting polar bears.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Here’s a state that is a bit excited about global warming opening up the Arctic Ocean to ice-free passage to the East coast yet seeming clueless that the same ice-free seas pretty much wraps things up for the polar bears.

A federal judge ruled recently that the polar bears stay on the endangered species list. The state of Alaska is appealing the decision (with your tax dollars of course). They say the bears have survived global warming in the past and they will survive this one. I wonder what the Vegas odds are on that bet?

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — As if this wasn’t enough, the trans/LGBT community had heightened concerns over a pattern of violence against transgender people occurring in recent months in the DC area, including a brutal death.

The woman who was shot is expected to live. Several others in the car were also injured but it is not clear whether they were shot as well.

The police officer has been arrested as was reported to have said: “I’m gonna kill you” just prior to the shooting. He was previously fired from his job but later reinstated.

Practice of preventing videotaping of GOP town hall events likely curtailed by Circuit Court ruling.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT –The practice of preventing citizens from videotaping public events in locations such as City halls and public assembly rooms, in particular, GOP town hall events, was likely curtailed by a ruling from the federal court. The First Amendment rights of ordinary citizens are as valid as those for traditional media the ruling stated.

It did maintain a pretty good 60 MPH clip for a while (likely with the throttle floored.) It likely generated a few chuckles along the way. Anybody know much about these things?

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — Yes, we all know the Boy Scouts openly discriminates, and yes, we also know they can LEGALLY discriminate as a result of winning a lawsuit a few years back, but you know, we do need to continually remind everyone of  the ugly side of this organization. We need to make it as difficult as possible for the Boy Scouts to conduct their business by educating those around us. Organizations such as the United Way has cut Boy Scout funding entirely. I suggest you do the same and tell your friends.

Carpeting — A third of a million pounds of it goes to a landfill every 10 days.

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — And this is just for one large city. I had the opportunity to observe the ongoings at a carpet recycling center and discovered a surprising 60% of carpets CAN be recycled. Some fibers, including wool, can be reused. Some of the plastic backing and carpet under layment can be recycled into resin. Unfortunately, a much of it has no value and ends up in our landfills. It would seem to me that creating carpeting from materials that CAN be recycled is the way to go here.

I was also struck by the amount of carpeting thrown away that wasn’t too worn — people and businesses remodel or update their homes and businesses long before many carpets are truly worn out. Good for the ecology? Not if it can’t be recycled.

Kudos to those in the business of recycling carpets! Oh, and the most popular color? Beige!

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — I never thought I’d see the day. And on matters such as global warming. Wow. Huntsman certainly has hammered away on the baloney Gov. Rick Perry was saying on global warming. While I’ll never be aboard the Huntsman campaign, its refreshing to see facts matter on that side of the aisle. Huntsman previously took Bachmann and Romney to task for statements less than true or outright unbelievable. Election 2012 gets more and more interesting these days!

DMV “An abomination that leads to hell” lawsuit settled

THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — The transgender woman who requested a gender change from the California DMV and received a letter from an employee stating what she was doing was “an abomination that leads to hell,” settled her lawsuit.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the state agreed to pay her $40,000 and the DMV employee, $15,000. The DMV employee was suspended after the incident and later quit his job.
